Muhyiddin pays tribute to frontliners for low number of Covid-19 cases

PETALING JAYA: With the lowest-ever number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia on Wednesday (July 1), Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has paid tribute to frontliners who have worked tirelessly for months to stem the spread of the pandemic.
In a Facebook post on Thursday (July 2), Muhyiddin said this was the first time Malaysia recorded only one case in a day, and there were no local transmission cases among citizens and foreigners.
"Congratulations and thank you to the frontliners who are still working hard at present to control the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
"At the same time, I'm also proud of every Malaysian for their cooperation and abiding with SOPs," he said.
The trend of decreasing Covid-19 cases in the country, said Muhyiddin, reflected the level of awareness and knowledge Malaysian society has about the disease.
"Congratulations to Malaysians. Such positive developments make us very excited and proud. But we shouldn't be too comfortable to the point that efforts to stem Covid-19 are neglected," he added.
Muhyiddin stressed that Malaysians must continue to be vigilant, take preventative measures and always abide by SOPs.
"God-willing, I'm confident that with the cooperation and commitment of every Malaysian, we will successfully defeat Covid-19.
"I'm proud of all of you. I'm proud to be a Malaysian," he added.
On Wednesday (July 1), Malaysia recorded the lowest increase in Covid-19 cases since the MCO was implemented on March 18.
On Thursday (July 2), Malaysia recorded three Covid-19 cases and there were no deaths reported, with the death toll staying at 121 cases for the 18th day in a row.
The trend of low number of cases recorded daily began on Monday (June 30), with only nine cases recorded. - Star
