Perak DAP has never offered Tronoh assemblyperson Paul Yong Choo Keong (above) to return to the party, said Perak DAP secretary Wong Kah Woh, after the former claimed he received such an offer.
“DAP has never made an offer to Yong to come back to the party.
“Yong and (Buntong assemblyperson) A Sivasubramaniam’s action of declaring their support for the formation of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government has gone against the rakyat’s choice and it is a betrayal that cannot be forgiven.
“Perak DAP will not cooperate with or accept anyone who has lost their principles for their own self-interest,” Wong (below) said in a statement today.
He said Perak DAP has appointed their deputy chairperson V Sivakumar and Perak DAP Youth (Dapsy) chief Chaw Kam Foon to take over the care of the Buntong and Tronoh constituencies.
The party will continue their efforts to provide service to the rakyat in those areas, Wong said.
Yesterday, Yong had claimed that DAP had approached him to rejoin the party.
He also claimed that other political parties, except for Umno, PAS and MIC had approached him as well.
Yong was the former Perak DAP treasurer as well as a state exco under the Pakatan Harapan state government.
Yong and Sivasubramaniam had announced their defection from DAP to support PN on March 9.
Sivasubramaniam later joined Gerakan, which is now friendly to PN. - Mkini
