Two arrested after discovery of female body in Bidor oil palm estate

TAPAH: The police have found a decomposed partially-naked body of a woman at an oil palm estate along the Jalan Sungkai-Bidor stretch near Bidor.
Tapah OCPD Superintendent Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the body of the 47-year-old woman of Chinese Indian parentage, whose name is being withheld, was found on June 29 at about 1.45pm.
"This was after the police received information from the public about the discovery.
"The body had already become bloated and infested with maggots," he said in a statement on Friday (July 3).
Supt Wan Azharuddin said the matter had been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
"There were drag marks on the ground near the body.
"The forensics team also did not find any weapons.
"A post-mortem conducted at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital showed that there were injuries believed to have been caused by a blunt object or a fist," he said.
"She was identified after cross-checks on her fingerprints and records at the National Registration Department.
"There was a missing person report lodged by the victim's relative on June 9," he added.
Supt Wan Azharuddin said the police had arrested two men, aged 38 and 41, in Tanjung Tualang, Batu Gajah and Jalan Patani, Penang, respectively.
"The first arrest was made on July 1, while the second on July 2.
"We believe both men knew the victim and are involved with the case," he said, adding that both would be remanded until July 8 to facilitate investigations. - Star
