PETALING JAYA: The Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) financial aid should be automatically transferred to the accounts of Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) 2020 and Bantuan Prihatin Nasional 2020 (BPN) beneficiaries, says MCA Youth secretary-general Daniel Wa Wai How.
According to Wa, this is to prevent new Covid-19 clusters as the country continues to grapple with four-digit positive cases on a daily basis.
“This will reduce the number of people leaving homes and being exposed to infection risks, ” said Wa in a statement Monday (Jan 18).
“It is a progressive move to allow BPR applications to be made online, but the government should keep in mind that there are communities, including the elderly, who are not so skilled at using IT devices and may require help from others, thereby rendering themselves exposed to certain risks.
“We must take proactive measures, and, at all costs, the emergence of new Covid-19 clusters must be prevented, ” he added.
Under Permai package aid announced by the Prime Minister earlier, households earning up to RM5,000 per month will receive RM300 each while for those under the single category, earning up to RM2,000 per month, will receive RM150, benefiting more than eight million recipients. -Star
