COVID-19 | Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Zuki Ali is now under self-quarantine.
This is after a close contact of his tested positive for Covid-19 on Jan 22.
"I am now undergoing self-quarantine at my residence until Jan 31 in accordance with the Health Ministry's advice," he said in a statement today.
Mohd Zuki was supposed to hold a press conference today to detail the administrative mechanism under the state of emergency.
However, he said it was now cancelled. Instead, he will release a press statement on the matter.
He assured that his quarantine won't disrupt the public service's operations.
"I will continue to carry out my duties, including chairing and attending meetings, from home," he added.
The emergency was imposed on Jan 11, two days before the second movement control order (MCO 2.0) came into force.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the emergency was necessary to help combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
It also suspended Parliament. Critics accused the prime minister of using the emergency to cling to power after losing his majority in the Dewan Rakyat.
Muhyiddin had assured he will call for elections after the pandemic is resolved. The emergency will expire on Aug 1. - Mkini
