PETALING JAYA: The retail prices of RON95 and RON97 petrol are set to go up by four sen per litre from Jan 2 to Jan 8, says the Finance Ministry.
In a statement on Friday (Jan 1), the Finance Ministry said that the price of RON97 will be RM2.14 per litre, an increase by four sen from RM2.10 per litre.
RON95 will also increase by four sen from RM1.80 per litre to RM1.84 per litre while for diesel, it will increase by three sen at RM2.01 per litre from RM1.98 per litre previously.
The government, it said, will monitor the changes in crude oil prices and take necessary measures to ensure the welfare of the rakyat remains protected.
The weekly fuel pricing mechanism was reintroduced on Jan 5, 2019, under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).
Under this system, fuel prices are announced every Friday and remain in force for one week. - Star
