Pakatan Harapan wants to know the terms of reference of the proposed bipartisan committee which will advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the emergency proclamation before deciding if the opposition coalition is prepared to be part of it.
"We want the details first. We need to see the terms of reference and how many members will there be. We need to study the terms of reference," Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub told Malaysiakini.
He said the Opposition Leader's office is working on obtaining the information.
Salahuddin added that the opposition will convene a meeting when the details are available.
"We will wait and see," he added.
The opposition is in a dilemma as it is worried that joining the committee could legitimise the emergency proclamation which it opposed.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the emergency is necessary to aid the government in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, Harapan claimed the emergency is a means for Muhyiddin to cling on to power after losing his majority in the Dewan Rakyat.
The emergency, which took effect from Jan 11 and will be in force until Aug 1, also saw Parliament suspended. - Mkini
