PAS leaders meet to discuss Umno-Bersatu crisis

A PAS leadership meeting to discuss the fictitious relations between its two allies Umno and Bersatu is currently underway.

Key PAS leaders arrived at the party's headquarters in Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur and the meeting started at 10 this morning.

The meeting was chaired by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang (above).

However, PAS central committee member Nik Muhammad Abduh was seen leaving the party headquarters at 10.30am.

Just before the meeting, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan posted on Twitter, indicating his willingness to resolve the issue and have the trio of Umno, PAS and Bersatu working together.

"Having one best friend is a wonderful blessing, even more wonderful when your two best friends are also best friends.

"No room for petty jealousy when there's so much love to go around. Three is better than two... let's go 3!" he posted in cheerleader fashion, alongside an image of the three parties' flags.

Yesterday, PAS central treasurer Iskandar Abd Samad said the party would discuss the motion proposed by the vast majority of Umno divisions to sever ties with Bersatu in the 15th general election.

PAS veteran leader Mahfodz Mohamed also said the party would continue to work so that its ally, Umno, could accept the fact that it was necessary for them to remain in a coalition.

Mahfodz said like it or not, the three parties comprising Malay-Muslims in the country should stay together in order to avoid greater losses. - Mkini
