PETALING JAYA: Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with two Malaysian NGO leaders today.
In a post on Twitter, Afghanistan foreign ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi said Muttaqi met with Global Peace Mission chief-de-mission Azlan Sharif and Muslim Volunteer Malaysia chief operating officer Hasbullah Najib.
The location of the meeting was not disclosed.
“(Azlan) stressed on the continuation of humanitarian assistance and confidence in the security situation,” said Qahar on Twitter. He said the minister thanked the NGOs for their efforts and assured them of full cooperation.Last week, Malaysia’s foreign minister Saifuddin Abdullah said that although Malaysia has yet to recognise the new Kabul government, it was committed to assisting Afghanistan with humanitarian aid as well as in reconstruction and rebuilding the country.
Malaysia would also continue to work with the United Nations, the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, and non-profit organisations such as Mercy Malaysia and GPM to provide humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan. - FMT
