Amanah Youth has elected Hasbie Muda as the wing's new chief, taking over the position which was vacant since August following the death of Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin.
Its speaker Noorazmir Zakaria said Hasbie (above) was chosen by the National Amanah Committee during a meeting earlier today.
"The special meeting decided that Hasbie will be our new chief and Nik Abdul Razak Nik Md Ridzuan is his deputy," Noorazmir said in a statement.
"With this announcement, we hope that Amanah Youth can continue to fight for the agenda of the youth and prepare for the 15th general election," he added.
Shazni died at a hospital on Aug 6 while receiving treatment for Covid-19.
The 34-year-old was also the Pakatan Harapan Youth chief. He was appointed in March after Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman vacated the seat when he left the coalition last year.
Following Shazni's death, DAP's Howard Lee was chosen as the new Harapan Youth chief last month.
According to an Amanah Youth committee member, Hasbie was among the pioneers of Amanah Youth and led its Terengganu chapter during the early days of Amanah's inception.
The new leader is a Universiti Malaya graduate, who was once a student activist.
He also served as the special officer to Terengganu Amanah chairperson Raja Kamarul Bahrin when the latter was the deputy housing and local government minister. - Mkini
