PAS MP: Set aside differences, don't let Harapan win in Malacca

PAS’ Kuala Nerus MP Khairuddin Aman Razali has urged Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Muafakat Nasional to set aside their differences and work together in order not to let Pakatan Harapan win the upcoming Malacca state election.

There is already a “negotiation formula” suggested by PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man that will enable PN and Muafakat to win the Malacca snap polls together, Khairuddin (above) said.

“I think it is not difficult to negotiate (with each other) if we focus on one goal that is our victory for the sake of the Muslim people.

“I call on all sides to negotiate. Do not gamble on our victory in the Malacca state election and give it to Harapan due to our division, after we managed to become the government of the day due to our unity,” he said in a statement on Facebook today.

Tuan Ibrahim’s formula, Khairuddin said, will have incumbents defending their seats which means Umno-BN will contest in at least 14 seats and Bersatu at least two seats.

This leaves 12 more seats to be divided among the three parties that are Umno-BN, Bersatu and PAS.

“With the support of the three main parties, there are five seats that we can very safely win in the name of cooperation.

“With that, PN and Muafakat can win the Malacca state election with 21 out of the 28 seats in the Malacca state assembly,” he added.

Though the Umno supreme council has yet to formally decide on who to cooperate with in the upcoming Malacca election, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has repeatedly and publicly expressed his objections

PN chief Muhyiddin Yassin had also appeared to have decided to go ahead with three-cornered fights in the Malacca snap polls, saying that his coalition can no longer wait for Umno to make a decision on cooperation.

Polling day for the Malacca snap polls will be held on Nov 20, with nomination day set for Nov 8. - Mkini
