PETALING JAYA: The Singapore high commission in Kuala Lumpur, together with Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor and Selangor Youth Community, contributed RM30,000 worth of food boxes to needy families in Selangor today.
The Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, and Singapore high commissioner Vanu Gopala Menon handed over about 600 food boxes to representatives from six community organisations based in Selangor.
Tengku Amir thanked the high commission for the donation, while the foundation said the collaboration aimed to ease the burden and support those who are facing economic difficulties as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I think now more than ever we have to work together to magnify the impact to the communities that we engage with,” Tengku Amir said following the presentation at the high commission.
Vanu said Malaysia’s close and multi-faceted relationship with Singapore meant that issues that affected one would affect the other.
He also hoped that the high commission’s contribution would help to lift the burdens of the recipients.
The six community organisations that will receive the food boxes are located in Sungai Buloh, Puchong, Klang, Selayang and Gombak. - FMT
