SHAH ALAM: Selangor will amend its constitution this month to lower the eligible age of election candidates to 18.
The amendment will be made at the next state assembly sitting beginning on Nov 26, state executive councillor Mohd Khairuddin Othman said.
The changes were in line with amendments to the Federal Constitution approved in July 2019 to lower the minimum age of election candidates and voters from 21 to 18.
“The state government supports the inspiration and development of youth in the state for the future of Selangor,” he said at the Selangor Undi18 Townhall press conference here today. - FMT
