Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein has called for a whistleblower who alleged that their younger sibling in the army is being bullied, to contact him or his office immediately.
Hishammuddin assured them that their identities would be protected.
"If it's true, stern action will be taken," he said in a Facebook post.
The whistleblower had shared their allegations with a Twitter user known as Pedoq.
According to them, their younger sibling lives in a bachelor army camp, and is beaten every day by seniors and is frequently extorted as well.
"Even their savings are almost depleted. Imagine having to buy necessities for 12-14 people," the whistleblower claimed.
They alleged that reports to superiors in the army had resulted in the bullies merely being punished with a 45-minute marching session.
The whistleblower expressed concerns that their sibling may suffer the fate of the late Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnian, a Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia student who was tortured to death by seniors.
Zulfarhan, 21, died in 2017 after being beaten and burned with a steam iron by his university mates.
Six of Zulfarhan's comrades-turned-bullies were found guilty of culpable homicide by the High Court in Kuala Lumpur.
They were sentenced to 18 years' imprisonment, served from the date of their arrests on June 1, 2017.
Twelve others were found guilty of injuring Zulfarhan and were sentenced to three years' jail. They were allowed a stay of execution pending appeal. - Mkini
