PETALING JAYA: PKR made a sudden change on its candidate for the Satok seat in the coming state elections.
According to a report by the Borneo Post, Nor Dahlia Esapian Eyau, the candidate originally announced for the GPS stronghold, had to be replaced with Nor Irwan Ahmad Nor.
Nor Irwan said the last-minute change was due to a “technical issue” and his candidacy was decided by PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
“Our president has the wisdom to decide,” he said.
Nor Irwan also said he would give his full commitment to highlight the people’s concerns in the state assembly if given the chance.
“We can see that the people are facing many problems all over the country, including the increase in the cost of living.”
Nor Irwan faces Ibrahim Baki of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Awang Badele Awang Ali of Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) in the polls.
Ibrahim’s candidacy came as a surprise too when it was announced late on Friday that GPS chairman and Sarawak caretaker chief minister Abang Johari Openg would not be defending the Satok seat he held for 40 years, but would instead be standing in the Gedong seat. - FMT
