KUALA LUMPUR: Police have called Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to Bukit Aman this afternoon to have a statement recorded in connection with their investigation into the book My Story: Justice in the Wilderness by former attorney-general Tommy Thomas.
The former deputy prime minister will give her statement at 3pm.
Bukit Aman criminal investigation department (CID) director Abdul Jalil Hassan said this was a “normal procedure of an investigation”, according to Bernama.
It was reported that a special task force investigating allegations by Thomas in his book held its first meeting here on Dec 23.
The team is understood to be looking into several allegations, including the appointment of judges, excessive interference by the executive in the judiciary, and selective prosecution.
Thomas’ book, published early last year, has been criticised by various parties, including the Attorney-General’s Chambers, lawyers, politicians and the public, for allegedly containing elements of incitement, insult and slander. - FMT
