PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested a married couple for alleged abuse of power involving RM445,000 in consultancy work.
According to an MACC source, the female suspect is a director at a municipal council in Selangor and is believed to have used her position to offer consultancy work to a company where her husband is a shareholder.
The source said the two suspects were arrested at about 1pm at the Selangor MACC office.
Selangor MACC director Alias Salim confirmed the arrest.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 23(1) of the MACC Act 2009 for abuse of power.
Alias added that the suspects would be charged at the Shah Alam sessions court tomorrow. - FMT
