Tabung Haji urges depositors to limit daily transfers to avoid online fraud

Depositors of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) are advised to limit the number of daily transfers through the internet banking of TH's strategic partner banks as a safety measure against online fraud.

Tabaung Haji, in a statement yesterday, said that depositors should also always ensure that personal information and internet banking platform access passwords are not shared with any party, in addition to periodically checking account statements through the THijari application.

It said security measures are important so that depositors do not fall victim to irresponsible parties or scammers, adding that it is also taking steps to reduce the daily transfer limit through internet banking involving strategic partner banks to curb online fraud.

"Tabung Haji's online platform is very safe because withdrawals or transfers out of Tabung Haji are not allowed at all.

“In fact, THijari is equipped with various security features including username, password, TAC and security images to ensure that the application is connected to the official THijari website.

"Withdrawal or money transfer cannot be done over a phone call, while telegraphic transfer instructions at the counter can only be made from Tabung Haji's account to one's own bank account only," said the statement.

Tabung Haji said that through the THijari application, only one login session is allowed for each access and confidential information of the depositor's account will also not be stored in the mobile phone, in addition to constantly updating and improving technology security measures.

In the meantime, Tabung Haji takes the misuse of social media in spreading false news or unclear content seriously as it creates anxiety and panic among the public towards Tabung Haji.

"Tabung Haji will not hesitate to take appropriate action based on the law as provided under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

"Tabung Haji is committed to continuing to issue warnings and advise related to this matter on its official communication platforms.

“Contact the Tabung Haji Contact Centre at 03-62071919 for further inquiries," the statement read.
