Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan has shot back at his Bersatu counterpart Wan Saiful Wan Jan who claimed that Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob still owed Perikatan Nasional (PN) an official meeting.
Shahril said the meeting had already taken place on Aug 4 when the prime minister and PN's leadership exchanged views.
"The PM stressed (during that meeting) that now is the time to resolve problems faced by the rakyat and revive the economy. That is what people want.
"Now, Wan Saiful is (still) complaining. He claims that a 'lunch' meeting was not a legitimate meeting. Bersatu has such high requirements.
"I wish to ask Bersatu: What do you want exactly? To be pampered or fawned over?" asked Shahril (above) in a statement.
Shahril suggested that Bersatu will never be satisfied with any meeting with Ismail Sabri unless the latter agrees to certain government appointments sought by the party.
Yesterday, Wan Saiful accused Ismail Sabri of being afraid to meet PN's delegation and claimed that the lunch meeting on Aug 4 was not an official meeting between allies.
Separately, PAS vice-president Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said yesterday that PN was trying to obtain another appointment with the prime minister to follow up on the Aug 4 meeting. - Mkini
