KUALA LUMPUR: The water supply in 397 affected areas in Kuala Lumpur, Sri Petaling and Hulu Langat will be fully restored by 8pm tonight.

The affected areas have been experiencing water supply disruption from 10am yesterday following temporary work stoppage at the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (LRA Langat 2) at 4.30am the same day.

Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said as at 9am today, the status of water supply recovery in the affected areas had reached 95 per cent.

"The duration of water supply recovery varies from one area to another and depends on the location and distance of the consumer premises."

Air Selangor said as at 10am, areas in the Hulu Langat district affected by the water supply disruption included Balakong, Bandar Sunway Semenyih, Bandar Teknologi Kajang, Taman Desa Mewah and Taman Industri Desa Semenyih.

In Kuala Lumpur, they included Bukit Permai Industri, Kampung Cheras Baru (Jalan 4-14 and Jalan 38-52), Kampung Cheras Baru (Jalan 49), Pandan Bistari, Taman Bukit Pandan and Taman Bukit Permai.

The water supply in Taman Bukit Teratai, Taman Mawar, Taman Mega Jaya, Taman Melur, Taman Muda, Taman Pandan Mewah, Taman Putra, Taman Saga dan Taman Seraya had also yet to recover, it added.

"Air Selangor hopes consumers who have received the water supply will use it prudently to ensure the recovery process in the affected area runs smoothly."

It was reported that the supply disruption was due to chemical pollution in Sungai Semantan, Pahang, as a result of an accident on the Karak-Bentong Highway on Wednesday.

Out of the 397 affected areas,172 areas are in Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Langat (222) and Petaling (three).
