Your timing is off, Young Syefura tells PAS Youth chief

PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari's invitation to Pakatan Harapan in bringing down the Umno-led Pahang government comes at the wrong time, said Pahang Harapan Youth.

Its leader Young Syefura Othman (above) described the invitation as a 'dramatic ploy' and showed that PAS was willing to work with anyone to gain power.

Young Syefura said PAS should look at the current reality in terms of the state legislative assembly.

Harapan has nine state assembly seats, PAS has eight, and BN has 25. Aside from MCA's solitary seat, 24 of them belong to Umno, which had provided the state with all its menteris besar dating back to the pre-Merdeka era.

"It is true that we have the same goal as PAS to topple the BN government in Pahang, but Harapan cannot forget the incident of PAS conspiring with Bersatu and BN to topple the Harapan federal government through the Sheraton Move in 2020.

"This means that any collaboration with PAS does not guarantee a stable political relationship," she said in Kuantan today.

Young Syefura, who is also Ketari state assemblyperson, also questioned whether PAS can guarantee it will not contest the nine state assembly seats held by Harapan.

"Therefore, the PAS Youth chief’s suggestion should be answered with 'thanks but no thanks’ and there is no need for Harapan supporters to support PAS," she added.

Fadhli’s invitation

Yesterday, Fadhli, who is also the Pasir Mas MP, called for a move to capture Pahang after the party dominated Kelantan and Terengganu in the last general election, in addition to helming Kedah after the Sheraton Move.

He called on Harapan supporters to think for a moment to see how important it is to change the leadership of the state involved.

"In the upcoming general election, if Harapan supporters can think for a moment about how important it is to change Pahang's leadership, God willing, PAS has a chance to win or at least become the largest 'shareholder' in the formation of the Pahang government," he said.

Fadhli, however, insisted today that the invitation was only addressed to Harapan supporters, and not to the opposition’s coalition of parties. - Mkini
