Be ready to be new 'court cluster', Umno man tells Bersatu No 2

An Umno leader has urged Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu to focus on Bersatu's potential corruption charges over alleged misappropriation of government funds, rather than meddle in the affairs of Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Umno information chief Isham Jalil said Faizal should cease interfering with Zahid's affairs that have nothing to do with Bersatu.

"Faizal Azumu, I suggest that you do not need to meddle with the deputy prime minister's post because it is at the discretion of the prime minister to decide, not you or Bersatu," he said in a Facebook post today.

"I suggest that you and your friends in the party prepare to be the 'court cluster 2.0' over allegations of vote buying and the country's biggest scandal involving misappropriation of government funds," he said.

Earlier today, Faizal had suggested for Zahid to be relieved from his duties as deputy prime minister pending the conclusion of court cases against him.

Jumped ship

Faizal argued this was as Zahid's position in the government while undergoing court proceedings could give undue pressure to the judiciary.

"To ensure the court hearings will be concluded without any delays or interference, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should be relieved of his duty as deputy prime minister," said the former Perak menteri besar.

Faizal was commenting on Zahid's application to the High Court requesting a permanent return of his passport to facilitate his official duties as deputy prime minister.

Meanwhile, Isham (above), who is also an Umno supreme council member, claimed that while Bersatu was in the federal government, many leaders who jumped ship to join the party had escaped criminal prosecution.

“Do you think you and your friends can easily escape once again by diverting attention to other people's issues and calling your corruption a donation?

"The people will not forget these cases. You must focus on your critical problem and your own party.

"Whoever commits a crime and corruption cannot get away from judgements on earth or in the afterlife. Be ready," he said. - Mkini
