KUALA LUMPUR: A police report has been lodged by DAP about a viral TikTok video, which accused the party of running the show in the unity government.
DAP central executive committee member Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali said the widely-shared video had blamed DAP for the government’s move to review the teaching of Islamic studies subject in schools, land intrusion in Pahang by durian farmers, and the legalisation of firecrackers.
The video also blamed the party for bringing in consultants from Singapore’s Housing Development Board to reform public housing in this country and for Putrajaya’s focus on the pork pricing issue.
“All these five issues were linked to DAP as the main culprit,” said Sheikh Umar in a press conference at Parliament House.
He also said that the viral video was shared on April 1 on the Facebook page of PAS member Shahril Azman Abdul Halim, who is the Pahang state assemblyman for Jengka.
Sheikh Umar said the video struck a defamatory tone that would stoke hatred against a legitimate party like DAP.
“I am (also) worried that hate politics as well as slanderous and false (media) content would ruin our nation’s politics and would victimise DAP at a time when legislative elections in six states are nearing,” he said.- FMT
