KUALA LUMPUR: Luxury cars, designer handbags, expensive watches and jewellery are among the items seized by police in the ongoing probe into the MYAirline fiasco, with about RM5mil in bank accounts also frozen, it was revealed.
Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said the items were seized over the course of the investigation that began with the arrests of MYAirline co-founder Datuk Allan Goh and his family members last week.
Comm Ramli said that so far, 12 vehicles, six watches, eight handbags, two laptops, a CPU, 10 pieces of jewellery and documents connected to i-Serve Technology and Vacation Sdn Bhd have been seized, adding to the total of 20 bank accounts.
“The exact amount frozen and the value of the seized assets are hard to ascertain, as some are valued according to the market and depended on the market prices,” he said yesterday.
Comm Ramli said police also arrested a suspect in his 40s, believed to be an i-Serve shareholder, at his home in Bangsar yesterday, adding that the suspect was taken to the Jinjang central lock-up where he is remanded until Friday.
Meanwhile, Goh was released on police bail following the end of his remand yesterday.
“The main suspect was released on police bail.
Our focus now is to scrutinise important documents pertaining to i-Serve business transactions,” said Comm Ramli.
He urged all i-Serve investors to come forward and lodge police reports over their investments.
“The reports will enable police to thoroughly investigate i-Serve, QA Partnership, Trillion Cove and MYAirline.
“It is important that all i-Serve investors come forward as soon as possible,” he added.
Goh, 57, his wife, 55, and their 26-year-old son were detained by CCID at about 5.30pm on Oct 17 at their residence in Shah Alam.
All three were remanded until Saturday.
Goh’s wife and son were released, while Goh’s remand was extended until yesterday.
On Oct 12, MyAirline abruptly suspended operations, citing financial issues pending shareholder restructuring and recapitalisation.
About 125,000 passengers, with tickets worth RM20mil were affected by MYAirline’s sudden suspension.
Following the announcement on Oct 16, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the licence of the low-cost carrier would be suspended temporarily. - Star
