‘No need to be a thorn’: PKR Youth leader speaks out against MIC

PKR CONGRESS | A Selangor PKR Youth delegate has spoken out against BN component MIC for demanding “recognition” from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Kota Damansara assemblyperson Muhammad Izuan Ahmad Kasim, in debating PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim’s policy speech, alluded to “noises” heard from a recent annual general meeting “of a component party in government”.

“My advice to the component party, if you are insincere about being with us, just leave.

“There is no need to be a thorn in our sides, give space to our party (PKR), our president (Anwar) to fix the economy, to make Malaysia better. That (to leave) is the best,” said Izuan.

When contacted, the Selangor PKR Youth chief revealed that he was referring to MIC deputy president M Saravanan’s speech from the party’s 77th Annual General Meeting last weekend.

The former minister said MIC would not request any positions in government, but instead demanded “recognition” by Anwar’s administration.

Saravanan, who did not elaborate on the nature of recognition, also said MIC would not hesitate to take “further actions if their demand was unmet”.

Meanwhile, in his debate on political stability as the pillar of national prosperity, Izuan also stressed on importance of loyalty to the party.

He noted that PKR had gone through its fair share of betrayals and those who are left today will be ones to remain.

The PKR Youth Congress held at Putrajaya International Convention Centre today saw 15 delegates debating the policy speech. - Mkini
