Cops nab 9 after man found beaten, stabbed to death

IPOH: Police arrested eight men and one woman after a man was found beaten, stabbed and scratched to death at a construction site in Taman Menglembu, here, early this morning.

Ipoh police chief Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the nine foreign nationals, aged 21 to 41, were arrested at 5am to assist in a murder investigation after the victim’s body was found at 1.23am.

“The victim was a foreigner, in his 20s to 30s, and was found lying down with his mouth full of blood. The identity of the victim is still being ascertained, pending confirmation from the employer,” he said in a statement.

Abang Zainal said the victim had been stabbed six times. He also suffered blunt force trauma to the left side of his face and multiple scratches were found on his body.

He said the autopsy conducted at 11am confirmed that the man died due to blunt force trauma.

“Anyone with information on the case must come forward and provide a statement to investigating officer Chua Sze Yuan at 012-619-5312, or contact the nearest police station,” he said.

Abang Zainal said the suspects would be remanded until June 24. - FMT
