Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin today announced his decision to run as a PKR vice-president candidate in the party’s upcoming central election next month.
Sim, a political secretary to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, said he made the move after 26 years of involvement with the party.
“As the party’s longest-serving strategy director (2013–2022), I played a crucial role in the historic achievement of changing the federal government in 2018.
“I was also charged in court over the ‘Kita Lawan’ case in 2015. If convicted, I risked losing everything - yet I chose to stand firm and unwavering,” he said.
“During the Sheraton Move political crisis, I remained loyal to the party and rejected any form of betrayal.
“Based on my long experience and unwavering loyalty to the party’s cause, I humbly seek the support of all PKR members,” said Sim in a Facebook post.
With Sim’s entry, he will be the third fresh challenger for the four elected positions, the other two being Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil and Sungai Buloh MP R Ramanan.
Earlier, Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Chang Li Kang, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari, and former Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar had announced their intentions to defend their vice-presidency. - Mkini
