The BN chairman says Bersatu is experiencing what Umno went through in the past, in a thinly veiled dig at PAS.

Zahid pointed out that Hamzah had stated Bersatu’s willingness to work with Umno on several occasions now.
“I believe that he’s looking for a new (political) reality, since their political partner is two-timing them.
“I think what happened to Umno (before the 2022 general election) is now happening to (Bersatu),” said the Umno president on the sidelines of an event here today.
While Zahid did not explicitly mention any party, the Barisan Nasional chairman is believed to be making a thinly veiled dig at PAS, Umno’s former ally under the now-defunct Muafakat Nasional (MN) pact.
MN was formed in September 2019 when both Umno and PAS were in the opposition bloc following Pakatan Harapan’s victory in the 14th general election in May 2018.
The pact fell apart after PAS formed PN with Bersatu while insisting that Bersatu be included in MN, which Umno was against.
Earlier this month, Hamzah had said Bersatu was open to working with Umno as both parties shared the same ideologies.
He repeated this on the campaign trail of the Ayer Kuning by-election, suggesting that Umno join forces with PN to form the Perak state government.
Zahid dismissed Hamzah’s statement as “wishful thinking”. - FMT
