Johor makes it easier to apply for affordable homes and to invest

Applications for Johor’s affordable houses currently require five documents compared to 17 previously, and these can be submitted digitally.

Chief secretary to the government Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said speeding up government processes can cut down costs and improve productivity.
PETALING JAYA:
The application process for affordable houses and land matters in Johor will be easier and more efficient following the implementation of the Bureaucratic Red-Tape Reform system, an initiative of the government.

The Malaysia Productivity Corporation said this will benefit the people and the business community.

This is in line with the government’s commitment to raise the efficiency level of the public service, Bernama reported.

In a statement, MPC said applications for Johor’s affordable houses currently require only five documents, compared to 17 previously.

All these documents can also be submitted digitally.

“Not only can the public save time and energy, but the government can also save RM15.3 million in operational expenses annually.

“This is a direct reflection of increased public sector productivity that provides actual benefits to the people,” it said.

For the property and investment sectors, MPC said, the Serah Balik Kurnia Semula process period has been shortened to just three-and-a-half months compared to 17 months previously.

This is expected to result in compliance cost savings of RM290 million a year.

“More importantly, investments can be approved faster, development projects can start earlier and the level of trust in the government’s service delivery system will increase,” it said.

Both initiatives are part of the Bureaucratic Red-Tape Reform programme led by MPC, in line with the Public Service Reform Agenda and the implementation of the Public Administration Efficiency Commitment Act.

In conjunction with the 2025 Madani Rakyat Programme held at a shopping centre in Johor Bahru today, chief secretary to the government Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar presented certificates of appreciation to the Johor Housing Development Corporation  and Johor Land Administration on their success in implementing these improvements.

“When we prioritise the people and facilitate business dealings, we can find ways to speed up the processes, save costs and improve productivity.

“This is clear proof that the level of efficiency in public service can always be improved,” Shamsul said in the same statement. - FMT
