Two additional school holidays given for Deepavali

KUALA LUMPUR: Schools nationwide will get two additional holidays in conjunction with the upcoming Deepavali celebration.

Deepavali will be celebrated on Oct 20, which falls on a Monday.

According to the Academic Calendar for the 2025/2026 Session, issued in a circular in October last year, the two additional holidays apply to all schools nationwide except those in Sarawak.

Schools in Group A (Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu) will observe the additional holidays on Oct 19 (Sunday) and 21 (Tuesday).

Schools in Group B, namely Melaka, Johor, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya will observe them on Oct 21 (Tuesday) and 22 (Wednesday).

As stated in the circular, all schools are required to adhere to the additional holiday provisions set by the Education Ministry.

In addition to Deepavali, similar additional holidays were also allocated for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
