The irrigation and drainage department says it will issue flood warnings if there is significant rainfall in the affected areas.

The department said in a statement today that it had identified nine districts at risk, covering the main river basins in the state.
The districts are Tumpat, involving the Sungai Golok, Sungai Kelantan and Sungai Pengkalan Nangka basins; Pasir Mas (Sungai Golok and Sungai Kelantan basins); and Kota Bharu (Sungai Kelantan, Sungai Pengkalan Datu, Sungai Kemasin and Sungai Pengkalan Chepa basins).
In Pasir Puteh, the river basins expected to be affected are those of Sungai Kelantan and Sungai Semerak. Other areas at risk are Bachok (Sungai Kemasin and Sungai Semerak basins); and Tanah Merah (Sungai Golok and Sungai Kelantan basins).
The river basins set to be hit in Machang and Kuala Krai are those of Sungai Kelantan, while in Jeli, it will involve the Sungai Golok and Sungai Kelantan basins.
JPS said it would constantly monitor the situation and issue flood warnings if there was significant rainfall in those areas.
It also advised the public to be aware of official announcements and take precautionary measures. - FMT
