Cook killed by trio because the food fails to meet their expectations

THREE Myanmar men, among them a pair of brothers, have been placed under a seven-day remand in connection with the killing of a female cook at a Thai-style restaurant in Lorong Bukit Juru last night.

According to initial findings, the main suspect and several companions, believed to be in their 30s and under the influence of alcohol, had gone to the restaurant at around 9pm. They allegedly complained that the dishes served were not up to their expectations.

An argument is said to have erupted between the group and the cook, who was also from Myanmar, prompting the victim’s husband to order the men to leave.

One of the suspects later contacted his brother and returned to the restaurant, where he allegedly stabbed the woman to death with a knife.

Her body was subsequently sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital (HSJ) for a post-mortem examination. Her husband, who sustained injuries while attempting to defend her, was also taken to the same hospital for treatment.

The suspects fled the premises but were later tracked down by police and arrested in the vicinity.

This morning at 8.45am, all three were brought before the Magistrate’s Court for a remand application.

Magistrate Roshayati Radellah approved a seven-day remand, effective until 23 November, as investigations continue under Section 302 of the Penal Code. —  Focus Malaysia
