NIBONG TEBAL: Police have arrested a local man after a video showing a car being driven recklessly along the North–South Expressway went viral on TikTok.
The one-minute clip, uploaded by a user under the account name "Kimie", shows the vehicle swerving dangerously at Km165, heading northbound.
Seberang Prai Selatan district police chief Superintendent Jay January Siowou said traffic enforcement police managed to track down the driver shortly after the video began circulating widely online.
"The suspect has been remanded for two days, until tomorrow, to assist investigations.
"The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving, which poses a risk to other road users," he said in a statement today.
Jay urged witnesses or anyone with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Inspector Albukhari Ishak at 013-5822366 or to lodge a report at the nearest police station.
He also reminded motorists to exercise caution and obey traffic regulations at all times.
"We will not hesitate to take firm action against any driver who endangers public safety," he added. - NST
