Man jailed 30 years, given 13 strokes for murder, rape of infant

PETALING JAYA:

 The Shah Alam High Court sentenced an unemployed man to 30 years’ prison and 13 strokes of the rotan on Friday after he pleaded guilty to two charges of murdering and sodomising a nine-month-old child under his wife’s care.

Sinar Harian reported that Badruldin Mohamed, 40, received 10 years and one stroke for the charge of sodomy, and 30 years and 12 strokes for the charge of murder.

The court ordered that he serve his custodial sentences concurrently from the date of his arrest on April 29, 2021.

According to the case facts, traces of Badruldin’s DNA and semen were found in the infant’s large intestine and on the anus.

An autopsy by Sungai Buloh Hospital forensics specialist Dr Rohayu Shahar Adnan also confirmed injuries to the victim’s anus by a blunt object.

“Smothering was determined to be the cause of death,” read the case facts.

Badruldin had been charged on May 12, 2021 under Sections 302 and 377C of the Penal Code for murdering and sodomising the child, respectively, at a house in the Lembah Subang PPR flats, between 8am and 3.30pm on April 27, 2021.

The same evening, Badruldin’s wife Norhidayah Ab Hamid told the victim’s mother Robiatul’ Adawiah Aziz that her child had been brought to Sungai Buloh Hospital unconscious.

A team of doctors and nurses attempted to resuscitate the child, but the boy was confirmed dead at 12.18pm the next day. - FMT
