Student slashes father after being scolded for skipping school

 


A 17-year-old student has been arrested for allegedly attacking his father with a knife after being reprimanded for skipping school, authorities confirmed.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Lazim Ismail said police received a report at 6.42pm on Monday about the incident at a house in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.

"The suspect, who is a Form Five student, injured the 47-year-old victim due to a misunderstanding between them.

"The victim sustained wounds on his back and left arm from slashes made with a knife by the suspect. The man received treatment at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital," he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.

The teenager is now under investigation for causing injury under Section 324 of the Penal Code and criminal intimidation under Section 506.

"An application for remand under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code was made yesterday, and remand has been granted for three days from Nov 18 (Tuesday) until tomorrow (Nov 20)," Lazim added.

Section 324 criminalises voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons or means, with penalties including a fine, imprisonment for up to 10 years, whipping, or any combination of these.

Section 506 covers threats to cause death or grievous hurt, destroy property, or commit an offence punishable by death or imprisonment, with penalties of up to two years in jail, a fine, or both. - Mkini
