The remand order against rapper Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, has been extended for another three days to assist in the investigation into the death of a Taiwanese influencer.
His lawyer, Joshua Tay, confirmed this, saying that the magistrate allowed the extension after hearing arguments from both sides today.
“We objected to the application for an extension of the remand, but after listening to submissions from both parties, the magistrate ruled to extend the remand period by three more days, until Thursday, Nov 13,” he told reporters at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
According to Tay, the police had applied for the extension on the grounds that the investigation was still ongoing.
“At this stage, the investigation is going according to procedure. My client is in good condition, healthy, and in good spirits,” he added.

Namewee is a key person in assisting the investigation as he was reportedly the last person seen with the influencer, Hsieh Yun Hsin, before she was found dead in the bathtub of a Kuala Lumpur hotel room on Oct 22.
The rapper surrendered himself to the police last Wednesday.
Police are awaiting the full post-mortem report and toxicology analysis to determine the exact cause of the 33-year-old’s death.
The case, which was initially classified as a sudden death, is now being investigated as a murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
