THE Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has directed Bukit Aman to urgently complete its investigation into the March 2025 custodial death of 41-year-old lorry driver M Manisegaran, nine months after he died at Bandar Sunway police station.
In a statement today, the AGC said it expects the full report “soon” so the case can be referred to the coroner’s court.
“This department remains committed to ensuring every death in custody is handled transparently and holistically,” it stressed.
Manisegaran’s widow, Rajeswari Subramaniam, alleges her husband had facial and body injuries, broken teeth, chest wounds and bleeding eyes when she viewed his body. The death certificate still reads “pending further investigation” blocking insurance claims.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo slammed the delay, saying, “Death under custody must be investigated, as stated under Section 334 of the Criminal Procedure Code.”
He urged the AG to explain the inaction, stressing the AGC is the “custodian of public interest”.
Rajeswari has appealed to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail for intervention, pleading for closure and justice for her late husband. — Focus Malaysia
