JOHOR BARU: Two hours of heavy rain in the city this afternoon caused flash floods in several areas.
Viral videos show flooding in Jalan Kolam Air, Nong Chik, Jalan Sungai Chat and the Tasik Merdeka area.
The downpour, which began about 3pm, also inundated Masjid Kolam Ayer in Nong Chik.
Vehicles were forced to move slowly and motorcyclists had to stop as water levels rose rapidly.
A large tree reportedly fell at the Danga Bay stretch before the Country Garden junction heading towards the city centre, disrupting traffic as authorities worked to clear the route.
The public has been advised to plan their journeys, avoid low-lying areas and follow safety instructions during the current bad weather. - NST
