WHAT’S the worst that could happen in a family-friendly run? Someone could have taken a nasty fall on the asphalt, perhaps, and receive several stitches in the hospital.
But the same cannot be said for the recent Larian Budaya Antarabangsa Duyong at Melaka because somebody got the great idea of riding a paramotor across the running track.
And it would have been an awe-inspiring view too for the people from the ground if not for the fact that the vehicle got tangled with some wires between two transformers.
The result was as ugly as it was devastating. In the brief video post on X by netizen @update11111, the paramotor could be seen slamming with terrible force into a body of water.
The video can be found at: https://x.com/update11111/status/2002712511553147276?s=20
Fortunately, the poor decision of the rider in the paramotor did not affect any of the runners that day. If it were to fall on anyone from such a height, we can expect some body counts.
The netizens who commented on the video were equally savage. A heartless @941three said, “serves him right,” while @mattno2024 added that this was good. According to @ManiamMKM, the paramotor is proof that Malaysians are rich.

But then again, how much does a paramotor cost? A brief search on the internet revealed that a paramotor will average at around 7,000 USD, or RM31,396, excluding the parachute.
We can all agree that this is no simply crash in the video, but a very expensive one too. Could the engine be salvaged from such an impact?
However, the important point is the rider appears to be alive as seen in the video at the 14 seconds mark.
He will definitely think twice when deciding to fly in a residential area where hazards are present even well above the ground. — Focus Malaysia
