IT IS no longer news that social media influencer Khairul Aming is now stepping into the real world with the opening of his first restaurant, Rembayung.
To recap, the surprise announcement was made by Khairul Aming himself on social media, revealing that the year-long project involved a cost of RM4 mil.
The restaurant, he said, will be built on an 8,000-square-foot plot of land in Kampung Baru, just nine minutes from the KLCC shopping centre or the PETRONAS Twin Towers.
The impressive restaurant is bound for opening in January 2026, and has since gotten a good deal of tongue wagging.
Notable among them was a comedy post on X by netizen @bckupacc99 who compared the construction of the restaurant to the bus station at Kota Bahru, Kelantan.
A good number of netizens jokingly said that Khairul Aming should rule over Kelantan since the construction of his restaurant was much faster than the bus station. People should note that Khairul Aming is a Kelantanese, hence the joke.

Also, @critesikit said Khairul Aming should have been the project manager. More criticisms are being hurled at the Kelantanese government with @rdnaiman claiming that his Kelantan born friend once said that the terminal in Kelantan looked like a wet market.
Perhaps the most relevant comment went to @nuarroslizi who asked if the Kelantanese folks would vote for Khairul Aming instead of PAS if he really went into politics.
Towards his comment, a netizen replied that they would still vote for PAS. “Even if they placed a wood as a candidate, they will vote for PAS,” said the netizen.

“Khairul Aming doesn’t wear a kopiah, so no,” added @shahazree91. Another netizen pointed out that PAS has become a religion there. If people do not vote for PAS, he claims they are considered apostates.
Away from the biting humour, Khairul Aming stated previously that the opening of his restaurant will create job opportunities for 50 local youths.
Further more, he restaurant is located very close to the monorail route, just about a five-minute walk away. Therefore, he encourages customers to use e-hailing, carpool, or take the monorail.
To avoid long queues and lengthy waiting times, Rembayung will operate on a reservation-only system. We shall wait and see if Rembayung becomes a cash cow or sinks under the weight of all the expenses required to run it.
If it is the former, we really think Khairul Aming should try his luck next in politics. — Focus Malaysia
