The party only won eight of the 54 parliamentary seats it contested in GE15 four years ago, a drop from the 11 it secured in 2018.

In a Harian Metro report, Mujahid said the party is not ruling out contesting up to three additional seats in several states, including Sabah and Johor.
He said the party is prioritising a mix of experienced candidates and new faces at GE16, particularly from the youth and women’s wings.
“There are quotas for women and youth, and we are also taking into account leaders at the state and constituency level,” he said at an iftar gathering in Putrajaya.
The former Parit Buntar MP stressed that the party’s main strategy ahead of the election is to ensure unity and cooperation among coalition parties to avoid three-cornered contests.
The current term for the federal government ends in December 2027, after which a general election must be called within 60 days. - FMT
