The four Malay leaders say the perpetrator must feel the full force of the law.

DAP vice-chairman Syahredzan Johan, assistant national publicity secretary Young Syefura Othman, central leadership member Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali and Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid said the incident was unacceptable and risked disrupting national unity.
In separate statements, the four leaders said there must be no compromise with the perpetrator’s actions and that all forms of religious insults must be rejected by all Malaysians.
“Any form of religious provocation cannot be accepted by Malaysia’s plural and peace-loving society,” said Syahredzan, who is also Bangi MP.
“The full force of the law must be effected to promptly handle cases of racial provocation and religious insults. If these cases are not handled firmly, it could lead to conflicts.”
Yesterday, Sabah religious affairs committee chairman Arifin Arif said the state government would investigate a viral image of a person from the state allegedly stepping on a Quran and defacing it with obscene drawings.
He urged the police, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and state religious authorities to also investigate the incident.
Last week, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah student S Vikneswaran claimed trial to defiling a copy of the Quran by stepping on it and uploading a picture on social media of him committing the offence.
The incident caused an uproar, with some netizens even posting his personal information online – a practice known as doxxing. - FMT
