Hadi opens PAS doors for UMNO members who reject working with DAP

 

PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has expressed the party’s readiness to accept any UMNO members who disagree with their party’s cooperation with DAP.

The Marang MP said this is consistent with PAS’ position of being open to those who wish to join its Islamic struggle.

“We are indeed ready to accept any UMNO members who disagree with UMNO’s cooperation with DAP, to return and join us (PAS),” he said at Masjid Rusila yesterday (March 13).

This could open the doors for several former UMNO members to join PAS.

A significant number of UMNO stalwarts have joined PAS after they were expelled from the party following its move to join the ‘unity government’ headed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Hadi explained that the invitation follows his latest Minda Presiden article, where he argued that UMNO’s “Rumah Bangsa” initiative still amounts to maintaining ties and loyalty (wala’) to the DAP.

However, UMNO leaders responding to his article have avoided addressing the cooperation with DAP directly, instead focusing on the ‘satan’ point raised by Hadi in his writings.

Hadi, who previously served as a minister-level envoy in the Perikatan Nasional government, said that in  political struggle only Islam is feared by “Satan and its armies” and that Malays can only find safety through the religion.

Hadi also alleged that some UMNO leaders are willing to befriend “all kinds of spirits”, including what he described as “the biggest spirit” and “a spirit cleverly disguised with Islamic cosmetics”, in pursuit of power and wealth. —  Focus Malaysia
