KUALA LUMPUR: National shuttler Pearly Tan shared a heartfelt message on her 26th birthday on Saturday, noting that she still feels like a kid despite chasing major goals with women's doubles partner M. Thinaah on the world stage.
Pearly's cheerful character has made her one of the most popular sports personalities in the country and a well-liked player on the World Tour.
The world No. 2 made history as the first Malaysian women's doubles pair to win silver at the World Championships last year.
They were semi-finallists in last week's All England in Birmingham.
"Officially 26. Still chasing dreams. Still learning. Still growing. And sometimes… still just a kid," Pearly posted on her Instagram and Facebook accounts.
"Trying to live the dream I once imagined."
She also shared a photo of her celebrating with national teammates after training at the Academy Badminton Malaysia (ABM).
Pearly-Thinaah's main goal is to win a medal at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, having established themselves as a world-class duo in recent months.
As the All England is generally held in March, Pearly may have the opportunity to celebrate future birthdays by winning the prestigious title. - NST
