Shocking video shows driver cruising off with fuel nozzle dangling from car

IT IS quite okay to forget things. Careless mistakes happen all the time and it is part and parcel of being a human. But some careless mistakes can be larger than others, take for example a recent video where a Perodua could be seen moving on the road with the petrol pump sticking at the side.

One can only wonder what is going on in the driver’s head to drive away without placing the pump back at its proper place.

More than just a mistake, this could very well turn into a huge problem where an exposed fuel source is concerned.

In the video, a motorist could be seen coming over to the side of the car to inform the driver.

At the same time, a dialogue could be heard between the people who recorded the video, stating that the driver could have been a female.

Are all female drivers like this? This is certainly not a common occurrence, not forgetting that the gender divide is about 50:50.

Another voice in the video said this was what happened when people were too distracted by their phones.

Not much else can be derived from the video but a netizen in the comment section said this was an old video. Supposedly it had happened sometime back.

No further details could be derived from the 17 seconds video but the tragedy draws parallels with a situation that happened in Johor Bahru last year.

Apparently a petrol station in Jalan Skudai was forced to halt operations temporarily after a Singapore-registered car drove off with the fuel pump still attached, pulling down an entire kiosk booth.

The driver, a Singaporean man in his 30s, reportedly apologised several times and fully cooperated with the staff. He remained at the petrol station until about 3am to settle the issue with authorities and the station management.

At least with our forgetful “female” driver, it was only the petrol pump that came off. Perhaps we can surmise from these two separate incidents that female drivers are better? — Focus Malaysia
