Authorities seize 250 tonnes of sea sand and equipment worth a total of RM10.28 million.

PETALING JAYA: The General Operations Force (GOF) arrested six men, including two Indonesians, yesterday for suspected illegal transfer of sea sand at Kuantan port in Gebeng, Pahang.
The GOF southeast brigade said the suspects were arrested at about 10am in an operation led by their 7th Battalion.
A dredger vessel, two excavators, a bulldozer and 250 tonnes of sea sand, with a total value of RM10.28 million, were also seized.
The site is owned by a local company carrying out reclamation work for a new maritime hub.
The reclamation work is believed to have started in March and carried out using a dredger vessel in open waters.
Checks found that the sand dredging operation did not have a licence or approval from the authorities. - FMT
