The council describes the posting as a provocative and disrespectful act that constitutes a grave insult to the royal institution.

The council said the posting is a provocative and disrespectful act that constitutes a grave insult to the royal institution and has the potential to undermine harmony among the state’s multi-ethnic population.
“Members of the Selangor Royal Council take such insults very seriously and call for firm action to be taken against those responsible for disrupting public order in the state.
“They urge the authorities, including the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, to ensure appropriate action is taken against those involved,” it said in a statement shared on the Selangor Royal Office’s Facebook page.
The council also said the communications ministry must play a crucial role in ensuring that social media users act ethically and responsibly in their postings, including intensifying efforts to raise public awareness on the prudent and principled use of social media.
It said its members filed a report at the Shah Alam police headquarters over the matter.
Earlier today, Bukit Aman criminal investigation department director M Kumar said police have launched an investigation into the Facebook account behind the post.
The post was uploaded via an account going by the name of “Huayan The Pureland Learning Centre”.
Kumar said police have identified the owner of the account and that the device used to upload the post has been seized.
The case is being investigated for offences involving inciting public unrest, intentionally insulting others in a way that could provoke a breach of the peace, and the improper use of network services.
Kumar said 21 police reports have been filed, and statements recorded from 21 witnesses nationwide, including complainants.
