Witness describes casual acquaintance with Zara in court

 

Kota Kinabalu: The Coroner’s Court heard that a Form Two student was not a close friend of Zara Qairina Mahathir and only met her occasionally, including at a prayer room where they sometimes spoke about ghost stories.

Counsel Shahlan Jufri, who leads the legal team for Zara’s mother, said the 65th deponent described their relationship as casual.

He said the child witness’s written statement indicated she had met Zara several times, but they were not close friends.

He added that the witness stated they never planned to meet or make arrangements to carry out activities together or spend time together.

He further said they only met by chance, including at the prayer room, where they spoke about schoolwork and occasionally shared ghost stories. - dailyexpress
