After court victory, Shafie urges all to focus on developing Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Shafie Apdal described the High Court’s decision to retain him as the chief minister as correct and based on interpretations of the constitution.
Speaking after the two-hour delivery of the judgment at the Kota Kinabalu High Court by Kuching-based judge Yew Jen Kie, Shafie said Warisan has, from the beginning, left it to the judicial system to decide on the case without any interference.
“I hope after this there will be no more differences in opinion. We have been the state government for almost six months but because of the various obstructions, potential investors are reluctant to come to Sabah.
“With this judgment, I hope all parties will work together and move forward to ensure Sabah is developed,” he said.
Commenting on the role of the Gabungan Bersatu Sabah (GBS) as the opposition, Shafie said that should be their role from the beginning and they are supposed to be professional about it.
What is important, he said was that they play their role as check and balance and not become an impediment to the government’s efforts to fight for the people.

“I am confident, the people in the grassroots need to be defended. I hope all parties will focus on developing Sabah from now on,” he said. - FMT
