PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim received the Benevolent Leadership Award - the highest award by World Chinese Economic Forum (WCEF) - today but said there are others who are more deserving.
Anwar cited DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang, who was present at the ceremony in Mines Resort, Selangor today, and others who fought for a New Malaysia, should be given credit as well.
Lim received the WCEF Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award during the same ceremony.
"I don't honestly think that I deserve (the award) as our friend (Lim) Kit Siang worked very hard while I was resting in the prison," Anwar told some 500 delegates who attended the WCEF gala dinner tonight.
Anwar said he will share the award with all Malaysians.
"We have decided we, the Malaysians, the Malays, Chinese and Indians had enough of racism and corruption and it was time to build a new Malaysia," he said.

Earlier, MCEF chairperson Michael Yeoh said Anwar was honoured and remembered for his humility and sense of justice.
"Despite being jailed twice, he bore no bitterness against his jailers. His forgiving nature enabled him to work closely together with Dr Mahathir (Mohamad) in the 14th general election, which led to the historic Pakatan Harapan victory.
"Many has held him up as Malaysia's Nelson Mandela and having known both men, I believe the comparison is apt," he added.
"WCEF salutes Anwar for his empathy and support for the Malaysian Chinese community with his often used phrase, 'we are family'. But in the context that we come together as Bangsa Malaysia for new Malaysia."
WCEF is a platform established by the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI) to enhance connectivity and business linkages between China and Southeast Asia. - Mkini
